History of the Solar Water Purifier
John Ward is an eminent, renowned physicist, who after a visit to Zimbabwe some years ago, witnessed first hand the effect of polluted water and water borne diseases on the local population. Inspired, John set about inventing a portable, economical device which would produce high quality, potable water from virtually any type of dirty input water such as sea, bore, effluent, urine, radioactive, arsenic contaminated, brackish etc.
Over 12 years, John, fellow scientist Marg and the Thamesford team of engineers have been refining and improving a solar powered distillation panel. Incorporating state of the art design and materials, they have perfected a panel that can produce pure water, in volume, without using electricity, chemicals or any moving parts.

Thanks to Rotary and their Safe Water, Saves Lives fund, many panels are in the developing countries providing much needed pure water for needy families.
Thanks to Australia’s ABC television show ‘The New Inventors’, the Solar Water Purifier received great exposure and the Thamesford team had many requests for help. Help was needed to produce the panel in numbers and at the quality required. State of the Art revolutionary design demanded the latest materials, so the panel can perform to the high standard required in the harsh UV exposed environment and the dramatic range of temperatures it has to perform in.
Several eminent business people offered their services: experts in plastics, project management and marketing, combining their skills to form a new company SunSure Water. The company has been formed to commercialise, manufacture and market the Solar Water Purifier panel. The Solar Water Purifier needed a name and in tribute to John, the panel was named Waterward.
